Digital landlines will be the norm by 31st January 2027. At which point, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) will cease to exist. No more analogue phone lines.

So what does this mean for consumers?
Well, if you have a fixed (PSTN) line, you can keep it til January 2027. You won’t, however, be able to change provider.
If you don’t have a fixed line, you can no longer get one. You’ll have to get a digital landline instead.
Is that a good thing?
Absolutely. Digital landlines will be easier to maintain and provide a better service. They have much better functionality and are also more cost-effective.
